FedEx Corporation was founded as FDX Corporation in January 1998 with the acquisition of Caliber System Inc. by Federal Express. With the purchase of Caliber, FedEx started offering other services besides express shipping. Caliber subsidiaries included RPS, a small-package ground service; Roberts Express, an expedited shipping provider; Viking Freight, a regional, less-than-truckload freight carrier serving the Western United States; Caribbean Transportation Services, a provider of airfreight forwarding between the United States and the Caribbean; and Caliber Logistics and Caliber Technology, providers of logistics and technology solutions. Manchester United Football Club is an English football club, based at Old Trafford in Trafford, Greater Manchester, and is one of the most popular football clubs in the world. The club was a founding member of the Premier League in 1992, and has played in the top division of English football since 1938, with the exception of the 1974–75 season. Average attendances at the club have been higher than any other team in English football for all but six seasons since 1964–65.

Manchester United are the reigning English champions and Club World Cup holders, having won the 2008–09 Premier League and the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. The club is one of the most successful in the history of English football and has won 22 major honours since Alex Ferguson became manager in November 1986. In 1968, they became the first English club to win the European Cup, beating Benfica 4–1. They won a second European Cup as part of a Treble in 1999, before winning their third in 2008. El Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) es un instrumento financiero de la Comisión Europea cuya finalidad es la ayuda para el desarrollo económico de las regiones deprimidas de la Unión Europea. Estos fondos son subvenciones a fondo perdido, siendo gestionados directamente por las administraciones públicas (central, autonómica y local) teniendo cada una de ellas un cupo de fondos asignado a priori para realizar proyectos en la zona.

Los fondos FEDER suponen la partida más grande dentro del presupuesto de la UE, afectando a áreas de desarrollo como los transportes, las tecnología de la comunicación, la energía, el medio ambiente, la investigación y la innovación, las infraestructuras sociales, la formación, la rehabilitación urbana y la reconversión industrial, el desarrollo rural, la pesca, e incluso el turismo y la cultura.
